hurricane hinge offset or flush

Postby alisa1965 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 4:58 pm

This is my 2nd teardrop I am building...and learning from my mistakes (I hope). This time I am using a hurricane hinge. I assume I need to order a flush type not an offset if my hatch is going to ride within the back wall in a track and flush with the trailer, right? When would u use an offset? Also saw little bear hinges as "better than" hurricane hinges. How would they compare? I have a place called vintage technologies in michigan stating theirs is better. They are under "teardroptrailerparts.com" I would like something good. Thanks

I got my hurricane hinge from vintage technologies. It's been great and I've been very happy with it.

Here's a link on flush vs. offset hurricane hinges: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=52406

You'll note that Grant Whipp (http://www.lilbear.teardrops.net/parts.html) responded. He's made more teardrops than I'll ever see. I've used two hinges from him. He's quick, knowledgeable and a damn friendly guy.
