Vintage Technologies Door Help please

Postby jaydon44 » Wed Apr 01, 2015 12:16 pm

Hopefully someone can help me out,

I ordered a door from Vintage technologies and am having a heck of a time figuring out how it goes together, the windows I got from them were easy;
put screws into the holes provided and they self tap themselves into the V-groove so that that window and trim ring sandwich the teardrop wall

but with this door; the holes are on the exterior and make me think that i have to screw the door into the wood side of the trailer? and the trim provided has holes that are on the face perpendicular to the profile if that makes sense; directed at the edge of the door cutout, there are no holes or "v-groove" that face the actual door
can anyone make sense of this? or point me in the direction of install vids/pics

I scoured tnttt/expeditionportal/youtube/google for hours before posting here

I've heard that Frank is very good at helping you out over the phone but over the past few days I have not been able to get a hold of him

Also....the windows came with a rubber seal on them that seals to the wall when you tighten it up but the door didn't come with any type of seal/rubber/gasket at all, just has a roll of that rubber stuff you stick in the groove to cover your screw heads; am i expected to fend for myself to find some sort of gasket or silicone

thanks in advance for your help!

I will try to post pictures to better explain

I've installed two sets of these doors and am about to install a third set sometime in the next six weeks. I don't recall seeing any holes on the exterior of the door and they certainly arn't made to install that way.

The door is placed inside the wall. The interior trim is placed and screws come from the interior into a V channel into the door. I'm not in love with the provided self-tapping screws and find it easier to pre-drill as I go. Just make sure you're drilling into the groove. It takes about an hour.

No exterior screws:

Your'e second post with the pic just popped up. I don't see any exterior screw holes. Two-bits says these doors come from the same factory and install the same way. Anywho, call "Frank", he'll set you straight.

Screw going in from one of the exterior door holes.... Doesn't even reach...

Maybe if I slam my head inside the door a few times I'll figure it out

Update for anyone who runs into this, apparently for this door I got, the trim ring and the door frame do not screw into each other, u have to use butyl tape and screw the door into the wood of ur trailer from the outside, trim ring does the same from the inside but u drill/tap ur own holes and use the rubber flashing provided to cover screw heads
Got some direction from frank yesterday

Thanks tony for responses
