The thing about a laptop is, first, you can watch DVD movies. With wireless internet, you can get your news and stay in touch. And with an inexpensive card added, it can be a regular TV tuner too!

I forget the name of one of the companies that makes it, but there was a thread about this awhile back. The card was less than 100 bucks.

And oh:

I don't know how common this is, but the KOA in Key Largo even has CABLE hookup at their sites. So with that card in your laptop, your covered for everything. And when you consider the costs of a lighweight, true flat LCD/thinline TV (you know the type I mean), you're not taking that much more for a laptop.

HP and Dell have laptops now for like $400 or $500!
Here we go again!

Ebay. Toshiba Libretto U100.

Built-in wireless internet. I've been wanting one of these "laptops" (it's the size of a VHS tape!!!) for awhile now. It has an LCD screen.

I do not know if this helps; but if you use a sat. service. You can do like the professional truck drivers do and use your sat. receiver and plug-in the zip code for the area you are in. Set the dish on a roof mount tripod on level ground ( sand bag the feet of the tripod ); then use a compass to get the direction and watch the signal in the setup mode on the tv. 5000 TV channels to watch. Just make sure that you have a clear view of the sky to the south and southwest from about 30 deg. above the horizon to about 45 deg above. I also found a good sale on a dvd recorder/player that had a built-in tuner. The bulkhead connector "F connector" and or the junction boxes can be had at most lumber supply or Electronics ( or online Digi Key or Radio Shack ). ;-)

All this technology sounds great, but I think I'd better just stick with the DVD solution until I win the lottery...

Thanks for all the idea's

Rob,
Like my DirecTV instructions say, If you live in the US point the dish at the sky over Texas. If you live in Texas point the dish at the sky. ;)
Seriously, Ebay's a great place to surf for ideas.
