I'm sold on the summer insulated properties of a sandwiched wall. I also want to save weight on this build as much as possible because my tow vehicle is a honda CRV.

Does anyone foresee any problems if I utilize 1/2 marine birch and cutout numerous sections of the side wall and replace the cutouts with a rigid R-tech insulation board. I'd then use 1/8 birch luan on the inside wall. Here's the catch...do I really need another 1/8 inch birch luan on the outside or can I simply skin it directly with aluminum? I know I'd loose some of the insulated properties by not sandwiching with an outside layer of luan, but wanted to save the 18 pounds (9x2) in weight. What do you think?

Will that work out with your door thickness, seals and trim?
