Using aluminium composite panel for cladding

Postby art wanderlust » Mon Sep 07, 2015 4:48 am

I am evaluating different designs and construction methods for my first TD including materials for the frames (timber/plywood, steel square tubing and aluminium square tubing.
Also because I wold like to have and internal high of 5 foot or 1500 mm I am looking for cladding materials.aluminium composite panel which come in width of 1570 or more ( 5' 3")
Have any of the members used this type of cladding?
Inputs are appreciated

Cheers

I build mine with it as did sheddie and a couple of others
Here in NZ you can get it in 1500 x 3000mm sheets

Thank you guys, the other materials instead of composite aluminium with be the honeycomb.
Because steel is the material that I know to use (build several steel round and multichine yachts) I like more and more the idea of using steel square tubing for the frames and a type of alum cladding.

I'm planning a trailer that will use ACP as the structural component, not just the cladding. If it was only for cladding, I'd probably go with .040 aluminum. Why add the extra weight?

But here's a video of a wood teardrop with ACP on the sides.
