Stargazer window and curved surface?

Postby vegask » Sun Jan 24, 2016 8:49 pm

Still in the build stages of my teardrop (build here viewtopic.php?f=50&t=65081)

Walls are all cut out and the plan was to put a stargazer in the tear that faced slightly forward and just realized that there is no 9" section on my tear that is not curved. So, I am wondering if its possible to recess the window a tad or is it not a good idea to mount a window like that on anything other than a flat surface?

No reason not to. Take a look at my photobucket album. I put a flat window in the radiussed front in our tear.

There are more pictures in the album showing how I did it.

I like how Sam shaped the frame to fit a flat window on a curved roof. For my build I flattened the roof to accommodate a curved automotive sunroof frame. If I could do it over I'd think it through further and maybe try something different.

It worked eventually and I expect it to be water tight but haven't finished enough of the rest of the trailer yet to point the garden hose at it yet.

This link shows the beginning of the journal describing the issue.
