HF 6x10 tire clearance

Postby bam1028 » Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:32 pm

I am starting my second camper and this build will be a benroy design. My question is building out over the tire how much clearance is needed for the tire and axle flex. I tried to simulate the flex with weight and a bottle jack but the weight was not enough. I do not wanna get to far in the build and them realize the wheel well is to shallow and scrubs hitting bumps. I am building on a harbor freight 4x8 and will be adding a foot off of each side. Thanks

Measure between the top of the axle or U-bolts (whichever will hit the frame first) and the frame. That's as high as the tire will ever go compared to static ride height.

I did the measurement from the axle to the frame and it should not travel more than six inches. I have about 8 inches of clearance so I think I should be fine. Thanks KC for the reply. Im excited and will start a new build post when I upload my pics.
