Ply cladding tips??

Postby felixx » Wed Aug 31, 2016 11:46 pm

So I made a mistake cladding my TD
I went with Aluminium Composite Laminate Cladding (Alucobond)
Anyway the roof and one side were done with top quality material
One side was done with chinese cr@p

Anyway the chinese has cracked

So I am thinking of the thinnest sheet of ply available to cover the alucobond.

I will make some uneven L section out of copper to cover the join from the roof/ walls

Any tips on what to use/ varnish/ is std ply ok or should I use marine ply/ treated ply (Dont like the green finish H3 treated ply has here in NZ)

My td is a 4x8 so a single sheet each side is all i need

Thanks

Why not remove the bad and replace with the good stuff? Why try to cover it up with something that is less reliable (or have you decided you prefer the woody look)?

I guess I am just getting the impression that the add-on fix, with makeshift trim extension, can't possibly be as tidy and weather proof as replacing the bad alum skin.
