Door design and structural integrity question

Currently I have a four inch threshold on the bottom of my door opening. What I am interested in knowing is, if I cut out the darker portion completely would it compromise the strength of the wall over all? The light colored area is four inches of meat that would be attached to the trailer floor. By doing this, it would allow me to use the side of my floor as the bottom seal of the door and I would gain about three inches of door height as well as lower the entry height into the trailer.

How thick is your mattress going to be? I think 4-8 inches is pretty standard, with 30-50% compression. Once you get the roof on, I think you won't notice the missing material.

My plan is to either go with with something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NB2NP ... 04CBF1XW#/ or sectional cushions like the original grasshopper so the mattress would only be unfolded for sleeping.
