Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi Everyone,

I am relatively new to the teardrop scene and building my first at the moment, I am wondering if anyone has managed to find a latching/locking system for their galley similar to that of a car boot/trunk?

I was hoping for something like this where it just auto latches so I dont have to clip it shut.

I did a fairly exhaustive search of all the terms I could think of but I seem to be coming up a blank, any help would be appreciated.

Do a search for Bear Claw latches. They make a line of automotive style latches. They make them for doors and trunk release.

Thanks Tony, but mine doesn't exactly work like a car type latch, although it is a very positive system which works pretty well. I think of a car latching system as being a single hook in the center of the trunk lid. Maybe something like this would be what he means? http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/trunk-and-hood-latch

Mine works well enough & is a positive functioning system which is simple & strong. The only thing which is still a problem can be the summer heat. When it gets over 105 degrees & it's in full sun, it's more difficult to open due to the aluminum expanding & changing the shape of the hatch a bit. Harder to open & close when it's that hot outside. Works great in the winter.

It's been so long since I've owned anything with a boot/trunk I'm not sure I know what they are like anymore.

Noseoil that is one of the bear claw latches I mentioned.

They can be setup for a manual cable/lever or electric to operate them.

I can't say anything to the quality of it, but it latches secure on their floor models.

Bear Claw latches is exactly what I am looking for!

That socalteardrop link looks like a roto-lock, used in stage scenery, cases for ordinance, and caskets iirc. Check it on Google - as low as $8-10. Many sizes. Strong as all heck. Several would easily hold a cabin to a frame. Need a hex key to open and close but easy and self aligning.
