Farmtek Polymax thread Reborn

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby Ron Shaw » Tue Mar 07, 2006 8:11 pm

Hey Sid - That galley is looking great. :beautiful: :applause: Tell me more about that 3M double sided tape. I have not found anymore of the Henry's up here but somebody has to have it. I will keep looking.
Is that double sided tape some special kind? What type store does one find it at. Does it come in a roll, or is it in those little short strips?

Ron, It comes in a roll, 2 inches wide. Actually we were doing a helicopter modification on some litters for a medevac bird at work and had a little left over, so I thought I'd give it a try. All I can tell you is it's made by 3M. It has no part nnumber or anything else on the roll, just 3M.

I posted in an earlier post that Farmtek has an industrial strength doublesided tape, and I would imagine it would work. I listed the part number and it was $5.95 for a 25 yard roll.

I was pretty impressed because when you get it put on, it actually just looks like another layer of the plywood.

Hope this helps

I believe that 3-M calls it VHB tape. Very High Bond. My company has used it for years to apply exterior grilles on the outside of windows.
We have had excellent results with its adhesive qualities.

 We are so grateful you posted the tape and the polymax It looks real good on the inside too. Might be that this is an alternative for folks who want a light weight 5x10 skin to cover the seams, screws and oops. I have a hundred questions but I think I will wait for you to do the skin and see if they are answered. ;)

I know we covered translucency before, but would a colored underlay show thru, like bright green or orange, that would make it look tinted, also have you tried edgelighting it, does it transfer light thru the panel if the light is placed at its edge?

gman, it's much more dense than that. Any color laid behind it would not show any color through it, it would only block what little light might be coming through. It would not show as tinted.

As for the lights, maybe a faint glow would show through, but doubtful, and definitely no usable light.

If you'd like me to send you a little piece of it to check out, PM me your mailing address.

Same with you Madjack, if'n you'd like a sample.

PS: Madjack, While I was loading those pictures you love so much last night, I heard this........

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! OOHHHHHH NOOOOOOO!!!!!
SEAL, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BAD DOG, BAD DOG, BAD DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Side had laid out some nice steaks and had thinly sliced them to fry up with some onions and other veggies and had them on the cutting board on the kitchen counter. Well, she had left the room and yep.....

the dog ate it......

Seal is a black lab (well, mostly, with a little chow) about 7 years old and weighs about 75 lbs. She has NEVER done anything like this before. She is the most well mannered dog in the world!

So supper was mostly meatless last night, but hey, the pictures got posted!

Are you starving your dog? Or are you making the food look and smell too much like dog food?

I don't know if it would help... but try a generous dose of Montréal Steak seasoning next time... if that doesn't work, add a generous dose of crushed red pepper...

I know I like steak that way... but with my luck, the dog would too!

hey Mike, this is Side - still in a bit of shock over Seal's complete loss of senses last nite - I think Sid thought all heck had broke loose in the kitchen - from the scrambling sounds that came from the computer room after he heard my shouts of disbelief, I think he was expecting to see (at the very least) rats scrambling through the kitchen, and (bless him-my hero) he was on his way as fast a possible to save me from imminent harm. I just want to say to you and everyone else, that Seal girl is NOT starved - she just had a momentary lapse of consciencence and truly believed that it was OK for her to eat food (especially laying so closely, helplessly, and deliciously) close to the edge of the counter. I appreciate your suggestion of adding the extra spices to the steak - but, trust me when I say, that's not always a good idea when the dog sleeps in the same bedrooom with you at night............

You are correct.

1955 First Series. Last year they made that body style and they changed to the newer body style in mid year.

By the way.... IT IS FOR SALE.... It actually belongs to the wife.

$5,000, but I bet she'd be negotiable.
