Anyone built a Stone Guard for front facing window?

Postby Tim C. » Sat Jul 14, 2018 8:12 am

I have a fixed window facing forward on my teardrop, so we can enjoy the view from our fold away sofa.
I need to build a stone guard that would preferably be hinged at the top to convert to an awning.
What experience have people had with piano hinge vs. conventional hinges. One issue appears to be offset from trailer surface to the window itself - window about 1/2 inch proud of trailer surface.
I have considered a flat cover that uses a threaded rod/pin in each corner that also could convert to an awning by reconfiguring. Issue here is locking retaining knob or rings on the pin or threaded rod during transit.

At any rate some successful inplementations / design problems with pics. would be very helpful!

Back in the 1970s Avion trailers were considered a premium competitor to Airstream. They had front facing windows with a hard cover that hinged up to become an awning. You could do something similar.
