Fraction Calculator

Postby tony.latham » Mon Feb 11, 2019 11:47 am

I'm in the planning phase of my next build. Mentally, I've got the spars on but there's no fresh sawdust on the floor yet. :frightened:

Historically, when adding and subtracting fractions I have converted them to decimals and then plugged into a calculator. And then I would convert back to fractions. Which of course is dumb.

A week ago I found an iPhone app called Fraction Calculator Plus. I can't begin to explain how pleased I am with this app.

Here's a screenshot:

It's a big deal and is free.

I downloaded it and found it has annoying ads at the top.
I removed it and will continue with the memorized decimal equations I've been using for years.
I also have printed out decimal/mm fraction charts in 3 spots in my shop.
Thanks anyway, :D Danny

I have two calculators I've had for probably 20 years that you can plug in fractions. They are real useful say when you want to divide 56 13/16 by 5. My problem with apps are if I'm not working I really don't want the phone with me. Before I did that it was like working 24/7.

Danny:

Your system seems to work ––based on how your teardrops turn out. So I wouldn't change 'nuthing'...

I downloaded it and found it has annoying ads at the top.

You can get rid of the adds by tapping on the settings in the upper left and buying the 99¢ version. That 99¢ probably won't eat into your sandpaper budget.

;)

Gee I am glad my parent's generation converted my country to metric! But you seem to have a nifty solution in that app
