Ok since bedsheets can be made either with cotton or polyester what type would be best suited for PMF?

I'm not a PMF guy so keep that in context.

Polyester is a type of plastic of course. Polyethylene terephthalate. Plastics are a challenge to glue and I wouldn't suggest using a PVA (wood) glue to stick wood to plastic.

PVA glue adheres to (cotton) canvas since it's cellulose just like wood.

Sorry, was even a debate for me.. Cotton. The idea is to absorb, stiffen and seal. The debate for me was weave count and durability.

I used bedsheets on the interior to see how it worked and learned pretty quick I didn't want something that light duty on the exterior. I went to the HF Canvas for the exterior. Much better material for durability and happy I did so.
What I didn't know at that time is what Duck Cloth is and if bought on sale, comes real close in cost. Much better material in all aspects! IMHO

If you're in planning or working towards covering, start sourcing duck cloth and look for sales. Bedsheet the interior and save some $$, but exterior.. Duck Cloth!

+1 on using cotton duck. Better in every way than drop cloths. Tighter weave, no seams, smoother finish. Just not worth the few dollars you save (maybe) by using drop cloths.
check out http://www.bigduckcanvas.com.

I used linen because I had it on the interior and wish I had used light weight canvas instead.

Thanks for the useful info. I went to the duck cloth site you suggested and found so many types of cloth I didn’t know which type to get...any suggestions as to weight ie:4-6-8-10 ounces or type or whatever?

Over foam or over plywood?
