glueing aluminium composite

Hi all!

I've finished the floor of my build. Next up the walls ;)
I'm planning to skin the teardrop in alu composite (acp) as regular aluminium skins are way to expensive here. There's one "problem" is that the way i was planning to build the walls, the width of the ceiling is 1cm (0.5") to wide for regular sized acp.
i'm planning to use ply and make voids for the insulation and skin it on both sides with 4mm ply. Is it possible to skip the outside ply skin and glue the acp directly to the wall with xps insulation? Or is that asking for trouble?

Any other thoughts are welcome, thanks in advance!!

Caveat: I have not used ACP, so take that into consideration.

Wood to wood adhesion with PVA glues such as Tightbond 2 or 3 is stronger than the wood itself. What isn't known––at least to me–-the adhesion strength of wood to ACP with whatever glue you might use. There's the old problem of dissimilar materials that flex differently and have dissimilar rates of expansion/contraction with heat or moisture. But as I said, I don't know.

Could you cut a 1/2" off of your floor? Isn't that the underlying problem? Or is there an issue with chassis width?

Hey Tony,

Thanks for you're reply.
My chassis is the same width as the floor, 149cm wide. The frame of the chasis is 4cm wide. I could rip an half inch of the floor but I was afraid that the bolts that go trough the floor and chassis might not have enough room.

The easiest thing at this point would be to build a new floor.

But that's just me.

I think I'll stick to the original plan and pay the premium for the extra wide acp..
Thanks for the tips!
