Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.

Thanks Pete, completed the tank mount today. It just needs to be screwed onto the trailer platform that will take a few minutes. The first photo shows the mount itself with the rods in place and Rumpole peering through the plastic base. :) I decided to use a hex nut on the inside to avoid the possibility of bending the angle aluminum when tightening the wing nuts.

The next photo shows the tank attached to mount by two 1/4" rods. I have been wondering if this design will be strong enough to hold the tank as the trailer bounces along the road. Time will tell, so I will keep my fingers crossed for a while. :)

This is a photo of the propane tank mounted on our trailer. Almost time to go camping.

PS I think I will replace the two wing nuts with acorn nuts. It will be a cleaner look and I need a little wrench anyway to to fully tighten nuts against the split ring lock washers. Carrying two small wrenches will not be a problem. The nuts remove easily by finger once the lock washers are released. It takes just a couple of minutes to mount the tank or remove it.

Nice job. Here is one where someone else made a mount for his Willys trailer: clicky

Why is it so hard, no impossible, to find a mount that is commercially made? I'd love to be able to buy a simple mount so that I can mount my tank on my tongue.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Would something like this come close to working?
