Question... with your 6' wide TD and your rather small Tow vehicle, do you need mirror extensions for towing? Just wondered.

When I tow my Escape Hatch, which is 66" wide I do not need extensions, but I don't really know how wide I can go before I do...

I don't seem to need extensions. I suppose if someone was tailgating the tear I might wish for them, but that hasn't happened (the teardrop is stored near the mountains so traffic's not an issue there).

Did buy some cheap extended mirrors from e-trailer but they didn't seem necessary.

Two more question came up...

1) What happens when you put Gidget into that dog trailer? I imagine my dog's wouldn't like it much, especially once we started rolling...

2) What kind of a bike do you have there. I couldn't read the name or the brand...

Gidget likes to jump in it when it's parked but has not ridden in it. She's used to pulling the bike so being behind it will be an adjustment.

The bike is a Rocky Mountain Vertex 30. Love it so much I bought another (black). Rocky Mountains tend to have short top tubes so I didn't have to buy a women-specific.

Another weekend in the mountains. I love this thing. This was the first time with the hitch-mounted Sportworks Transport T1 bike rack on the teardrop. Worked great.

The teardrop was in good company. The deer was a few feet from our window at sunrise on Sunday. The bears we encountered walking back from the showers. Mama bear and her cubs expressed no interested in us nor, remarkably, did Gidget even acknowledge their presence. Harmony.

I've had some questions about auto paint and the material that covers the Little Guy trailers. Found the documentation that came with my '08 Little Guy and thought it useful to post here:


LAMILUX is the brand and it's based in Germany. The documentation I have lists several variations and I don't know precisely what's on my LG but all of these below are included in the corporation's stipulation that:

"Lamilux readily accepts automotive paint"

Some other characteristics that are listed:

new interior pics after putting up the Lassen and Sequoia NP posters. Had them laminated at Kinko's for $6 each and they did a sensational job on them. These are silkscreens so I wasn't sure how the lamination would go but they turned out perfectly.

Several people asked this weekend if the same manufacturer built the teardrop as well as the car.

It really is comfortable. Don't miss tenting. In fact, I sold one of my tents a couple weeks ago.

The temps were 70s during the afternoons, 50s at night.

Random recent pics. We've camped nearly every weekend for the past two months. Love the teardrop more every time we're out in it. My current focus is on using the trailer tongue area as a kitchen. The Element has a clamshell rear so it's very handy with the cooler and chuck box back there and the cookstove atop the tongue box.

The pic above with the tarp over the tailgate is something I've been thinking about doing over my galley hatch. a pole wider than the tear, with a tarp, and a couple of tent poles at the back staked down for sun and rain protection... It would make it wider than the galley so it would keep the galley dry, at least in light showers.
