New Raindrop 560 Ultra

Here's where you can talk to the manufacturers about custom built trailers, etc...

I camp with a mutt, and the t/d makes that very easy... my first trip was 5,000 miles and 30 days... don't know what motels would have cost, but I like sleeping in my own bed each night....

T/d's rock....

Micro Brewery

Postby ELCHILEON » Mon Jun 21, 2010 2:56 pm

Hey COCamper,

If you like visiting " Micro Brewries ", while traveling .. !

Here are two more, on the " PCH " route !

Ventura:
http://www.anacapabrewing.com/

Santa Barbara:
http://www.santabarbara.com/dining/revi ... aurant=775

Both places offer lots of places to window shop for the day , or places to eat , and are within walking distance to the " Beaches "..
Santa Barbara , runs a shuttle up & down State St. , with a drop off & turnaround (@ ) near the Wharf / Pier.

ps: I haven't personally stopped by the " Santa Barbara Brewery ", but will in the near future !!

Another place I like to stop at, on the way to " Mammoth Lakes "..
Indian Wells Brewery:
http://www.mojavered.com/

And .., when I arrive in " Mammoth Lakes ".

Roadtrip: Food Stops

Postby ELCHILEON » Mon Jul 12, 2010 6:37 pm

Hey everyone,

Just an additional " FYI ", for those of you interested & not familar with the area ?

We decided to travel lite , as there are several stores / markets in town , to stock up on any needed items; Vons / Do-it Center / Rite Aide.. !
There are always " BEARS " to consider & we didn't have a " Bear Box " in our Camp Site .. And sure enough , they did show up, late at night.
Image
My girlfriend is really " Afraid " of the Bears ! I on the other hand.., see them as just another " RED MEAT BBQ " item to consider
I could use another " Mountain Man Coat ".. ;)

So, we decided to plan our meals on a " Day to Day Basis " , which as it turned out , we ate out on the road most of the time.

Here's a list to consider.

1. Breakfast:
Image
Image
The stove also serves "Dinner" & whatever " Prime Rib " is left over .. They serve the following morning, as "Prime Rib Hash, with Eggs".. My favorite item !!

2. Lunch /Dinner:
Image
In my opinion, Best Pizza in town ,and they serve the local " Micro Brewed BEER ".

Image
Very decent Burgers, right next to " Grumpy's " , which is a Sports Bar.

Image
First floor " Formal Dining " .
Second floor , " Bar " area " HAPPY HOUR " prices (starts 5 PM).
They not only serve the local " Micro Brewed Beer ".. It's made here !!

Image
Very decent " Mexican Style " food !! (Village area).

We had planned on staying for lunch .., but the " Float Tube " lessons lasted longer than expected.

Schats Bakery
http://www.thefreshloaf.com/node/1488/s ... california
They serve a very decent fresh roasted " Turkey Sandwich ".

We were a bit burnt out eating " Burgers / Steaks /Hot Links, Fries , etc " & decided to try something different.
I've driven past the place (over a few years), but never stopped . I personally love " Thai cuisine ".
We were both pleased with the food & rated it as a " Thumbs Up "

Beer Tasting, near the Village!

FREEEE Beer tasting. Although, I don't know how long this will last ... ?

A few more places to stop , while on the road !

Bishop
http://www.smokedmeats.com/
They serve " Deli Sandwiches " & Smoked Meats.

Mono Lake / Yosemite area.
WHOA NELLIE DELI
http://www.whoanelliedeli.com/
Image
Situated on a hill, overlooking " Mono Lake ". They made the cover of " Gourmet Magazine ".

Here's two " Guide Booklets " that I found to be very useful

Hey everyone,

I haven’t posted in a while, due to computer issues. I’ve been out to a few places since my last post.

Lake Casitas

I wasn’t thrilled with this trip.. The campgrounds were decent… but, the restroom facilities were “ Terrible / Disgusting “.
One day I waited for the restroom to get cleaned by the Camp Staff, and they did a very poor job.

I would never go back again for any overnight camping.

With that in mind, the wife & I decided to go back to “ Flying Flag RV Park “ as a base camp.

We spent a day @ Solvang , another @ the “ Santa Maria County Fair “ , and stayed for a night concert to watch the “ Temptations “
Image

We initially were going to stay @ Jalama Beach , but the weather report were a bit iffy: overcast , windy & possible rain showers… There were a few clouds, slight windy nights. We spent a very beautiful day checking out the “ Camping “ spots, for a future outing.

It’s a bit out of the way, somewhat secluded, with limited Camping spaces (110 ).

However, I can see myself staying for at least three days of “ Fishing / Hiking around, & digging for old Arrowheads."
