Wow, after hearing about the guy who bought a Silver Shadow and all his troubles - I will look into other manufactures of Teardrops. Bummer - poor guy.
I am in the research mode at the moment. This forum is excellent. It is pointing me to a couple of from what I have been reading great builders.

Wow, perhaps you could provide a bit more information? You heard about the guy who had troubles with a Silver Shadow. Someone local? Read about it on here - where's the link?

The forum is excellent and if you do some research you will find a lot of folks perfectly happy with their Lil Guy trailers. Scott at Lil Guy is active here and I believe has responded to all who have had issues. Perhaps you should contact him and bounce your concerns off him. Here is his profile page:

Don't know how he could have talked to anyone with just 2 posts??? And I do not think that is the way to come one and introduce yourself. His first post about staying in a Walmart parking lot was kind of off too.

Wow, I did not intend to put anyone off. I am new to this forum. I just read about this person who has the Silver Shadow on this forum - newbies forum I think it was. As I am looking for a teardrop and I just thought it would be good to hear the good or bad. That is why I am in the research mode. I would hate to be bummed out after spending all that money to find I bought something that was not a good product.

As to the Cedar City Walmart-sorry again. It was just to point out what one should be careful about sometimes. Stuff happens. All in all I would have no problem staying at the Walmart in Cedar City. Great place. Always see RV's there. Again-sorry to have offended people. That was not my intent at all.

I am sure not trying to piss people off. Only to find a good teardrop. I just drove 100 miles to see a Little Guy 5 wide tear drop. Looked OK, pretty bleak interior and just a board across the back for the kitchen. A little more than hard cardboard at the bottom of the cabinets. At least that is what I saw offered, and they were warped. Bed shows at the back bottom under the kitchen top?. If you spilled something it would be a bummer. I am afraid I am in the I want a little more than what they are offering in the kitchen category. No offense to anyone.

No offense taken by me, an LG owner. I was just about to place the order for my LG 6-wide in 2007 when a fellow posted about horrendous water damage in one he'd just bought. I was so alarmed that I e-mailed LG and said I would not place an order until I saw how this fellow's concerns were addressed.

I was so dazzled by LG's customer service -- remarkably expeditious and generous response to the customer (whose tear was an early model that had been sitting outside on a dealer's lot for years) that I placed my order and after three camping seasons remain delighted with what I think has been a good value teardrop. I haven't had a single problem or drop of leakage despite camping in several epic thunderstorms.

I also did not care about a kitchen galley and did not want cabinetry crowding the interior space so I ordered a completely spartan LG. Essentially a cargo version with two doors and roof vent. To each their own.

I do recall a Silver Shadow owner who had a leakage issue. There are several other SS owners who are delighted with theirs'. But the scary stories do tend to stand out and that's a cautionary note to manufacturers (as Toyota is painfully being reminded).

LG in fact recently moved their manufacturing operation from Indiana to Ohio nearer their headquarters, which should further enhance quality control and responsiveness to consumers.

If I were in the market today, the Silver Shadow, So-Cal and Camp Inn would be my top three prospects.

Welcome aboard Ramsey. You'll have to excuse some of the members here. They just don't understand that some newbies read the forum before joining. I remember the talk and I wasn't even an active member at the time. But you do need to contact Scott at Lil Guy with any concerns you may have. I'm sure he will help answer any and all questions. There are some nice teardrops built here on the West Coast. You might check with Lil' Bear in Redding, CA. Again, welcome aboard and maybe we'll meet at a gathering in the future.

Didn't mean to jump on you, but there are some on here that just start a post to stir things up, and then there are the post that are spam. I have seen a few of those the last few weeks. And most of those only have 3 or 4 posts.
Any- who, welcome to the site. You will not find any nicer folks, any where on the web. And very helpful!

A great deal depends on what you want and are willing to pay for. We wanted a great deal more than is possible with the Little Guy Pleasant Valley etc. And lucked into Mega-Mini #1 and they are now building #7 for us with all the improvement we suggested and a bunch more. We should be picking it up in the next couple of weeks. Our second choice would have been a Camp Inn, but more weight, smaller, more money, and less features (but cuter).

I try my best to get things going, some times it works. But most times they just ignore me.

Love your truck. I had a 54 Chevy, 5 window. It was one of the few that had a 4 speed auto. Wish I would have kept it now. Would have looked nice in front of the tear. The guy I sold it to is here in town and he still drives it all the time. He stops by the house to talk, I think he is just rubbing it in, still will not sell it back.

I'm not mad. I just read it as an anonymous attack against Lil Guy. I've read where folks have had problems but I'm pretty sure that Scott has contacted them and worked out their issues. On the thread you linked to Scott did attempt to contact them but since the original poster haven't posted since none of us can be sure the outcome.

Your description above sounds like the Lil Guy newer style (my description) and not the Silver Shadow line. I can understand and share your thoughts on that design - however others really like it. HikerChick has her Lil Guy fixed up really nice. Others like Casey Dog have modified the galley to their liking.

Good idea. I have been looking to see when a gathering is around the southwest area. But I might have ordered a teardrop by then. I have a photo shoot/video job coming up in Costa Mesa, CA in April or May and while out there am planing on stopping by So. Cal teardrops and see their operation. I like what I have read about there models. Still researching though. There is a lot to think about. I do know what I am looking for. It is just which company and which model. Also like Camp-Inn and Mega-Mini. Whew, choices, choices. If anyone has any ideas as to what they like I would love to hear them.
