Advantage..keep out the insects..disadvantge, no way to get to the bottom end of the matress to tuck in sheets, etc..

That's exactly what I was thinking! It was nice to be able to get to the end of the bed. Its a good trade-off so that bugs and food, etc. don't fall in. But the perfect solution would have been to extend the counter to the edge but have it hinged so it could have been lifted up. Best of both worlds. I do like the larger doors a lot.
