Referring Someone Directly to Another Post

Postby absolutsnwbrdr » Wed Dec 15, 2010 1:48 pm

Maybe this has been brought up before?

I've been reading many posts from people who want to refer someone to a specific post in another thread, and keep seeing "Go to XXXX and look about 3/4 of the way down on page X".

So I just wanted to toss this out there for anyone who may not know....

You can refer someone directly to a post that you want them to read, without making them scan through an entire thread that they may not want (or need) to sort through.

1. Go to the post you want them to see.

2. Look for the little miniature piece of paper to the left of the time/date stamp.

3a. Click on the tiny icon, and once the page loads copy the URL from your internet browser address bar.
OR
3b. Right-click on the tiny icon, and select "Copy Link Location" (Firefox) or "Copy Shortcut" (Internet Explorer)

4. Paste this URL in your post, and they will be taken directly to it!

Happy posting!

What's the fun in that? I enjoy the sidetracks--that's a great way to find out unintended things.

Thanks Zach!! I knew how to do that on another forum (with different management software) and wished it was possible here. Glad to know it is!
