picture size accepted on forum varies

Postby working on it » Mon Aug 25, 2014 4:52 pm

I uploaded a couple of photos via Tapatalk today. I was sure that they would be rejected by the forum, as oversize, @ 1280x960 pixels(I was at jury-duty cattle call, and couldn't re-size them). Whenever I have tried to upload large photos at home, the forum rejects them, and I must re-size (I usually pick 512 x ??? pixels). I've also noticed that others are able to upload larger photos than I, normally, can, Do I have settings for this...I've never noticed them. What gives?

IF uploading to a gallery there is a definite size limit, both width x height and file size.

IF doing like I most often do, that is post a link that loads an image stored on an image hosting service such as photobucket there is no limit to the dimensional limits or file size. Keep in mind that linking to large file and large image dimension files is hard on bandwidth and for those who use portable devices on cell services those large images all eat up the data plan in a hurry. It's easy to forget that when sitting at home on a 20 MBPS dsl or cable connection. I resize everything I post with an image editor on my PC before uploading to either my Photobucker account or the gallery here.

I understand the bandwidth issue, and normally use the automatically resized TnTTT gallery photos, but sometimes I will use an illustration from my desktop or other source that is larger for more detail. I didn't realize that by uploading directly from my photos album on my Android phone (since I was away from home), via Tapatalk, would I be bypassing normal limits. Just surprised me, but it won't be my normal procedure.
