Sealing my outside Walls

Postby tyellow57 » Wed Oct 29, 2014 12:30 pm

Morning All
I'm need help with my outside walls, please. I have applied an epoxy sealer and like the way the wood looks. Now what do I do? I don't want to put fiber glass, but want to protect the wood. Poly, varnish or Thompsons Water Seal? Which is the best?

Thanks for all the help, Troy

Don't bother with the Thompson's, I think that'd be a disaster.

Epoxy is the gold standard for sealing but it is not UV resistant. You have to cover it with something to protect it from UV rays. Either a good compatible UV spar varnish (check with your epoxy manufacturer). The stuff is expensive.

Some have had success with enamel (clear) base coat used for mixing house paints. I have no personal experience with that stuff, but I think Rob here on the forum used it???

That is pretty much what I thought I just want to make sure. Hoping to take it out on a maiden voyage next week.

Thanks Tony
