Cuponarific- Make it go away...

Postby Dale M. » Tue Dec 02, 2014 9:41 am

How come in last day or so I have been bombarded with ad's for/from CUPONARIFIC..... The Cuponarific website says the program resides in my computer and I can just delete it by using Windows Add/Delete... Sorry program is not on my computer under name of CUPOSARIFIC like the website suggests....

I understand the need for ads to pay for website operation, but give me a break.... I do not want to purchase anything a Cupon program pops on on my computer.... I find the ads intrusive and offensive.... And it ruins the enjoyment of visiting site...

Update... Seem some malware/virus was in computer and did not show up on obvious scans or enquirers... This software linked below corrected problem, found a lot of nasty stuff and made it go away... Seems the browsers were infected and ad component found key words like "computer" and "software" and others and made them into/created a link to stupid ad stuff and inserted it into browser...

Sorry if I upset the apple cart here...

It sounds nasty. If anyone else has this issue, perhaps try the link that Dale posted!

What is Couponarific?

Created by a Delaware company of the same name (Couponarific Inc.), Couponarific is a potentially unwanted browser extension claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts when surfing shopping websites. It is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and although Couponarific's functionality may seem useful and legitimate, be aware that Couponarific is categorized as adware. The developers of this potentially unwanted application employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install Couponarific on Internet browsers without users' permission. After successful infiltration, Couponarific tracks users' Internet browsing activity and generates intrusive online advertisements.

I use a program called antimalwarebytes, from a web site of the same name to control and remove malware when it strikes. It works great, despite the clumsy name.

Do you mean "Malwarebytes" ? Or is there an actual program called
"Antimalwarebytes"? When I Googled "Antimalwarebytes" it
returned responses for "Malwarebytes". So I then clicked on the 'search for
"Antimalwarebytes" ' line and the returns were very odd. Most were in strangely
worded English, or separated the "Anti" off from the "Malware".

Just curious, as I use Malwarebytes in conjunction with an antivirus.
Malwarebytes has always been very effective.

Cheers,

Yeah, you're right, it doesn't have "anti" in front. Brain fart ;-)

No worry. Sometimes when looking at all this antivirus and malware stuff
it's like doing a version of "Who's On First", only with yourself.
