The Toaster

We're baaaaaaack!

You may remember me from the hilarity of this build back in '04: http://www.brokenoffcarantenna.com/teardroptrailer/
Roy and I have been going back and forth on trailer ideas, and think we have it narrowed down to something we're ready to try and build together.

http://www.brokenoffcarantenna.com/toaster/index.php?title=Diagrams
It's a Benroy profile, but 9 feet long (and 4.5 wide). We're calling it "the toaster" because I fixed on the idea of building a trailer like the 1962 Toastmaster toaster my parents got for their wedding and I grew up with. It's not completely planned out to the last screw, but we think we may be far enough along to start building *something*. (I'm chomping at the bit to make sawdust this very minute, Roy is insisting we plan things out.)

The link up there is to our diagrams. (we used the frame document from doug and steve as reference for our frame, and the benroy document as a starting point for our profile, btw!) Here's the link to our work breakdown thus far: http://www.brokenoffcarantenna.com/toaster/index.php?title=WorkBreakdown (thanks, honey!)

Are there any red flags we're missing?

Ha Toaster, that is funny. The Benroy is a great shape. Any reason you going 4.5 wide and not 5 wide.

I was not on the forums in 04 so I looked through you first build pics. Ya good therapy is right taking all the plastic film off the camper to reveal the beauty of it all must of been rewarding.

We're currently looking at building our frame http://www.brokenoffcarantenna.com/toaster/index.php?title=Frame

I think we're going with the Timbren axle-less 2000# straight (no drop/lift) rather than an axle. More for less weight, having something different, and because I haven't figured out where to find an axle of an arbitrary length than any clearance issue. 14" rims, simple rounded fenders.

How about black vinyl? We don't really want to open the roof up to leakage.

And we've done a bit more thinking and specing out what we need, and now I'm pretty sure we're ready for someone to ask a bunch of embarrassing questions BEFORE we go and put it all together.

http://www.brokenoffcarantenna.com/toaster/index.php?title=Frame and maybe the profile will help a bit http://www.brokenoffcarantenna.com/toaster/index.php?title=Diagrams
