Offroad profile - Inspiration needed.

Postby wlivesey » Tue Dec 09, 2008 7:40 pm

I'm looking for a rugged profile for an off-road build. I've designed a few myself (See the Trailboss thread) but just haven't made up my mind yet. If you've got an idea for a cool looking offroad profile I'd love to see it.

Something military inspired would be cool...

Here's a few i whipped up tonight...

All are between 8' and 9' long and between 44" and 48" tall from the top of the frame. Frame to ground clearance is roughly 20"

Very nice! I think I like the first one and the last one the best. Did you make these with Sketchup?

I 'think' I like the first and third. But, the third one may have a problem.....no entrance door? :D

Suicide doors? Would be difficult to hinge that curved side.

Good point about the doors. I also made it slightly longer and rounded out the front a bit.

Starting to look more ‘tearlike’. Seems that the tow vehicle may provide some design inspiration- rugged may be cool, but if it’s behind a ’76 ford LTD it could seem out of place.
If you have an extra $1000 lying around you can have this as your base (san diego CL)

Hi
We saw this site this time last year and it set us in motion to start building a camper trailer. We used one of the shapes shown in this thread so thought you would like to see the result.
A more detailed description can be found at this Aussie Camper Trailer forum.

A special thanks to 'stomperxj' for his sketches. Here is one of your shapes in the flesh.
