StandUpGuys Super Mini "Not A RV"

For those of you who thinks the Regular "Not A RV" is ridiculous with a shower toilet and sink then you will get a bang out of my new concept: The Super Mini Not A RV. Here is the concept built on a Harbor Freight 4x4 trailer. It is ONLY a bathroom on wheels and not much more. Forget the sleeping area. That takes up too much room. The theory is the inside of an SUV makes the perfect bedroom, just add curtains. The problem with the SUV bedroom is that nobody wants to get in and out of one and it is less than private. Also it can get hot in the Summer. Problem solved with the Super Mini Not. The SMNRV has a drop down bridge that links the trailer to the SUV to make them one. Air conditioning can be made to cool the trailer and the SUV together as one. You can even use the ledge of the bridge as a seat and bring a folding chair inside to use as a seating area.

There was a fellow forum member who built a rolling potty/shower room and a galley and used his van for a bedroom. He did a very nice job on it. However, when he tried to sell it, he found that the number of people interested in purchasing it was nil or nearly so.

For myself, I go camping for enjoyment and mostly use the campground's provided facilities. I don't want to have to deal with cleaning and maintaining another bathroom, if I can avoid it. I've watched how the rangers clean the bathrooms; and, if you go to ranger-run campgrounds, their facilities are usually more sanitary than most hotel bathrooms. This is especially true if you wear shower sandals or use the facilities right after they've been cleaned. The rangers spray everything with a special anti-bacterial, anti-fungus product and rinse everything down -everything- with a hose, daily.
...Wish I could clean my bathrooms at home like that!

Its a stand up changing room clothing storage and bathroom with AC for the trailer that cools also the back of the SUV. The big difference is the connection to the SUV (the bridge tunnel).

I like it. I've been thinking about something like that. Is your thought to to have a canvas cover the tailgate & bridge?

Put something on paper, or posting. Make it a foamie to keep it light. A single wheel trailer would be interesting. One thought I've had, though not practical, would be to make it a box sitting on the back of the SUV.

I helped a friend build a rolling shower house on an old 30' trailer frame. Made 4 shower "booths" 6' wide by 8' across and used the front 6' for mechanicals. We used car wash quarter acceptors and timers in each booth and tankless water heater run on propane. He sold el-cheapo Wally world towels and small bars of soap as well.

He hauled it to a biker rally campground after making a profit split deal with the owner. 10 days later he had something like 6 grand in revenue and the campground owner offered to buy the trailer for another 6k. Not bad for a $4,000 build cost.

This type of idea is really cool and would be of great use at many festivals!

PS....use trex composite decking for the floor...leave very narrow gaps between the boards for drainage from shower water. They won't rot and can be sanitized easily. We collected waste water this way. Water ran through the floor and was cought on a gently sloped tarp which ran down to a collection hose and out into campgrounds sewer dump.

Yes a nylon tube or tent would extend and reach to the open hatch or tailgate and make the interior of the mini one with the back of the SUV or mini van. Lets face the only reason people do not sleep in the bacvk of their minivan or SUV is that it would be not private and would not allow for standing up to change clothing and such. The way I figure it the mini would be a pretty cheap build being on a 4x4 HF trailer.

I have used the rolling bathrooms at a black tie dinner. Pretty classy actually. I just figured that the sleeping platform in a trailer is what takes up all of the room. Silly if you think about it when many people have the sleeping platform already in their SUV or mini van.

Here is what it might look like in the super mini standie if you were inside looking through the bridge to the tow vehicle sleeping compartment. Granted I do not have any bathroom walls up in the trailer but you get the idea.

Of Course the tow vehicle will need to be modified to make the back private with curtains and a divider from the front compartment.

Of course you would not see this bench as it would be blocked by the bathroom wall as seen here. But it is around the corner.
