Have you used a marine grade plywood on the hull or at least an exterior grade?

Here in Finland all plywood are made with same waterproof glue. Only guality of vaneers changes. So I use "standart" quality ply - its qood enough and cheaper.

Good so if the ply is a waterproof glue type and you glass the seams then you are good. You know what you are doing.

The little cabin cruiser sailboat you built is pretty cool. Obviously it does not plane the water very cleanly but it is a lot of boat for a short length. I am thinking of building next year a 4 meter long sailboat that the hull breaks down to two halves. This way I can put the boat inside my van and still pull my trailer.

Yep it´s "modifed pdracer" -rocker curve and bow angle are not sama as pdracer.

I will be interested in seeing your larger version of the Ocean Explorer built. Pretty amazing how much function and space you got out of the small one. Bravo!

Is it a Flintstone's van because turned over your feet poke out the bottom? Did you portage your trailer like a canoe to get it outside to dry?

I sand outside - the carage is warm so no worry...

I think I will make removable ladders to trailer frame. When the whale is going to water I remove the ladders and trailer lights and drove the whole trailer to water.

in picture is just the idea - its not the final solution.

I think it is a great idea. It make the boat trailer more of a trailer trailer when on land. I cannot wait to see photos of you next spring with your smiling face looking out of the whale's mouth on the water.

Finally got the bottom painted. Two coats of polyester paint two layers of alkyde primer and three coats of alkyd paint.


Next I will fasten bottom runners ( aluminium ) - turn it over and start waiting the santa!

Sometimes I feel a bit stubid while doing this project - sometimes it feels funny and sometimes it feels even a bit reasonable - now I feel a bit stubid.... but anyhow it´s been fun so far.
