mike's weekender

Hey Mike. I started building the weekender and after 8 days with 2 off for work and chasing parts I have it on the trailer all walls and roof done and fiberglassed. Next I have the doors and hatch to build. I waiting on the hinge from Li'l Bear and looking for some weather stripping for the hatch before starting the hatch cover. Plus I need a day or two off from building to rest. I'll post pic as soon as I can. Its an hour drive each day to where I'm building it and I keep forgetting the camera. Larryw

An hour drive? That's some serious dedication!
Any other details? 4'? 5'? Are you going with the original galley plan, or a full door?

I went with 5' wide and a full galley hatch. I'm going up tomorrow to work on it somemore. I hope to get the hatch built. I ordered the hinge from Li'l Bear but I don't expect to see it untill next week or maybe later. I'll get it done enough to be water proof so I can bring it home to work on it. I fiberglassed the outside and I'm going to paint it white for now to keep the sun from eating up the glass and expoxie. Larryw

Does this work? Well don't know where the pic of the boat or the bears come from but I guess this will have to do for now. The trailer it's sitting on is an old boat trailer that was give to me some years ago and I made it into a utily trailer for pulling behind my jeep. This will be the last redue of that trailer. I had to move the axel back a foot and I'll be putting the fenders back on it. Got the rear hatch fiberglassed today and the wood cut for the two side doors. I have to do my one day a week work tomorrow so it's off for a day.Larryw

My one day work week got extended by a couple days. I should be able to get back to it friday or sat. My hinge came in monday, had it shipped to where the trailer is. I'll get that installed and the side doors built this weekend. Larryw

Progress on the weekender. I now know that weekender doesn't mean build it in a weekend. But my brother and I are having a blast. Notice the doors how the window is. It's just a place for a piece of lexan to sit in with wedges to hold it in place. I'll try to get some better pics of that later. I couldn't find and of the little roll out windows that I see everyone else has so this will have to do for now. Larryw

This thing drives me nuts trying to post pics. Larryw
