Hi guys,
I'm looking at this site for awhile now and I can tell you that all of you are building beautifull teardrop trailers. I hope ,that I can start someday,my own project.Sorry for my English, it's not that good cause I'm from Belgium and never lurned to speak or wrigth English.

Patrik, Get out there and just do it. The hardest part is starting. If you need anything, just ask, there's a lot of expirience on this site and there's always somebody willing to give advise.

Hi Jack,
Sometimes I'm wondering that the axle is not in the midle of the trailer. Don't you have to much pressure on the frontside?I've built in 2006 a new garage and had on october 31 a heart attack and I'm recovering very well.Now I can get possebly an old caravan but the axle is good and it's an axle with brakes on it,that's always better I think. I think,when I start building,I built the road toad. I like him very much and I think that this one is the most spaceous and pratical trailer.I sure will let you know when I start building, and I think that I shall be the only one in Belgium,cause I've never seen it before in my country.

You and I have in common, the love of the look and style of the road toad. Rik Keller built a great tear there. I have yet to build, but I will also try and make a worthy forgery of the road toad.

As for your English, your doing as well as I do, (I was raised speaking American) Keep telling us about your build,and like MadJack says Pictures are very welcome here...

Patrik, in regard to axle placement...most of us build with a galley in the rear and most of the heavy objects placed in the rear also(battery, water, cast iron cookware, etc.) the axle is place towards the rear to balance the load on the tongue...tongue weight, ideally should be between 10% and 15% of total weight for best towing stability...an old caravan frame is almost always a good place to start and nothing wrong with having brakes either

Last night, they were calling for some severe thunderstorms, so I got the
brilliant idea to water test my Weekender in the driveway. I figured if
it leaked, I could just push it back into the garage, so I pulled it out
and leveled it. Once the thunder started, I ran out & jumped in. Too
late, I got soaked just running 20 feet, but I had a dry camper inside. I
sat there and watched TV until the power went out. It was a really bad
storm. The camper shook with some of the lightening hits and got me to
thinking this was kinda stupid, but gave me a real storm test. The rain
came down sideways at times. The only leaks I had were at the windows
where the drain holes couldn't drain fast enough. So, I opened them up a
little with a screwdriver / prybar and the drips stopped. I checked the
kitchen also this morning, and It was dry too!! Yeah for me. Now I just
gotta finish it. Just cabinet doors & trim work left.

I have been searching through this forum for detailed drawings for the Weekender / Long Weekender’s galley and so far, I am not finding the info. In Mike’s section on building the Long Weekender, he mentioned that the Long Weekender used the same galley as the Weekender, but I am missing the galley on the Weekender Page. There is a future link for the galley on the Weekender page, but the link is not active yet. Are there any detailed plans for the galley on either the Weekender or the Long Weekender’s galley someplace on this forum? Thanks in advance for any info.
