Box Kite downsizing

Postby Ron Dickey » Sun Jan 29, 2006 11:38 pm

Reality sets in dreams a broken and we move on.

after buying the 3/8 in sides I realized I would need to feather the top to make a 2 nd part to go up to 5 feet 4 inches

I am not that good at woodworking at this time and after I get it all done and go to some of those ralleys offered by those good folks who are good at the social part of life.

I best stick to what Andrew shows in the design Library. and many later add an expanding top like George T from Colorado did. But we have know children and may in the future need room for 2 more adults which means they sleep in a tent or back of the truck.

I came close to buying a 5 th wheel for 3000 but realized I get up alot at night and would bump my head where as the trailer will have two doors and the hatch in the back so I will not be climbing over here plus one day the truck will die and gas will be $$$$ and a car will be better unless small trucks are made as Hybrids but so far only the big trucks are planed.

So for now in order to get done for a showing in July I will need to set a side dreams and to basics and THE SIMPLE as Andrew calles it seems the best idea.

look at the top one square in the back.

Mike's Generic Benroy Plans at the top of the site that says Updated in Red
helps alot.

I am going to try to not be on as often and only when I am questioning my work. I have another big project Plus finding other employment as well so.... I will be doing at the same time so you may hear little of me. I will barrow a digital camera if I am real stuck.

I will log on from time to time just because I will miss all your happy Emoticons

Good luck to all of you who are trying to build your own kindof hidaway.

Ron.

Hi Ron,

It's always good to hear from you, and changing plans is a way of life for lots of us. Lately I've just been lucky I guess. Andrews Simple looks like it would be fun to build, and it would sure get you camping, and that's what this is all about. Good luck with the job search, you can use me as a reference if you want. Although having an old Hippy turned pirate for a reference might not be in your favor, and all those things the FBI said just arn't true.

Hi Ron, Go for it Mate and don't get distracted. That Gulflander that you had a link to is way over the top as a camper. Costs start at about $65000.00AUD and then you can option it up
Cheers
Paul

:applause: Wiring done on the Trailer part almost enough to move one and wire the truck and take it in for a license plate.

I want to add some connectors and another light in the back. The connectors will be to attach the removable body so I have a break light and some higher clearence lights on the main body.

  I have to check them to see if they do in deed work.

I have a checker and I will also do the oldfation hook to a battery. I did not add fuses like I said I would they will be added after the plates.

If I do not get the body done at least I can set a pup tent on top ad go to an outing and win a prize for most unusual.

Hmm maybe I should make a Teardrop Tent bend some wire into that shape and exit out the Galley.
Start a new Craze.

Ha Ha Ron D. ;)

I will have to check with a freind who's got a vehical that is wired for a trailer and check my wiring. Got the tow cable on 5000 lb.

I put the main floor on the trailer and drilled two holes and started figuring out the wall attachement and where the roof cross bars will go.

I almost left the floor on but realized if you look at my galllery I have hinges on one side of my separate lower trailer and was not attached. Then it hit me when I turn the corner sharply with the hing side on the out side my upper trailer might go flying :? and the lid might swing open.

So I had to disassmble what I had strated and put wood screws in the side opposite the hinges, now I can put the floor back on and continue with the build. I have not taken the trailer in for it's license uet. things go in the way.

Things keep getting in my way so when I have a day off like today, I worked on the trailer. I had planned to work on sending some pixs but spent it shooting more on my build .... I get it one day. I promised mike I would put some up. I flipped a coin the construction won.

Mike I will try and work on some of pix tonight

;) :D :)

Ron---GitRdun. It isn't like we don't love the pictures it's that we love the TD's too.

I had to settle for 5' high (I am only 5'4") though it was tempting to be able to stand. ;)

Making a work list for the day might help. I spent lots of days wandering because I kept changing the order of things to do. :?
