Gary and I wont know until the last minute if we can come. We would only be able to come up Saturday morning and spend Saturday night. We always are in the overflow area ... do you think there will be a problem. I will definitely make a dutch oven dish for Saturday night if we come ... probably a brisket or such. Trudy
Where ever we raise the hatch is home.
Darn blank states keep getting further away and we keep traveling slower ain't never gona get this map full.

Hi all !!

I just wanted to let you know about some items of interest near ITG3.

Just north and west of Minden a bed and breakfast has opened up a new restaurant. It is family-style serving, meaning you just order what you want, they take into account how many are at your table and it comes out on platters/bowls that you pass around the table. We had BBQ brisket and chicken, really good. http://www.burchellfarmhouseinn.com/index2.html
I have no affiliation with them, just wanted to let you know.

Also, on Saturday, June 20th, Holdrege (23 miles west of Minden) is having a parade at 10 am and a car show after that. The kiddies are sure to get a bagfull of candy thrown their way during the parade, and there are usually alot of nice cars to look at. I thought about putting the teardrop in the show, but it's not quite where I want it to be (yet). They also have a "porch festival" on East Avenue where neighborhood folks will have crafts, baked goods, food, etc, set up on their lawn and for sale.

I am not trying to detract from ITG or Minden in any way, I just wanted to point out some family-friendly events going on, just in case you need one more reason to head this way !

See ya in Minden,
Kevin

how is the registration situation?

Postby mki » Wed Jun 03, 2009 4:50 am

Hello,
I wanted to check in and see how the registration has been.
Is it fully packed? Do we still have campsites available? Overflow?
Thanks for any information - I'm still hoping to go provided kids are healthy and... husband willing to either join or let us go...

Greetings from Colorado!

Pre-registration for ITG3 is over. If you are planning to attend, you will need to register at the gathering when you arrive.

We have just over 50 trailers and about 100 folks pre-registered. With the economy as it is, fuel prices and the uncertain job market, I anticipate that we will have some folks decide to come at the last minute.

Everyone is welcomed! Come for the entire gathering, come for a day or so. You do not need to have a teardrop trailer to attend. Pioneer Village has motel rooms available. You can camp in the campground. We have had motor homes, travel trailers, cargo trailers, camping vans, trailers of all descriptions, station wagons, tents, bicycle travelers, cars, you name it! All that is required is an interest in teardrop trailers and the willingness to have a good time with good people!

If you are considering building a teardrop trailer, a teardrop gathering is the best way to gather ideas. Bring a notebook pencil, tape measure, digital camera and your sense of curiosity. Don't forget your questions! You will be amazed at the trailers and their occupants. Each one is unique. And don't be bashful about asking to look at their trailer or asking questions. Just be prepared to stay a while...

For those that are heading to ITG3, don't forget to print out a few extra ITG3 flyers to have along on your journey . You KNOW that you will be approached somewhere and asked:

"What is it?"

"Where can I get one?"

"Where can I see more"

and,

"Do you really sleep in there?".

YOU are the teardrop ambassadors as you travel down the American highways.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Remind me again, as I always seem to do it backwards, do we check in at the motel front desk first or at the ITG motel room? If I go enough times eventually I will get it right.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Both, go to the motel front desk first and then to the room. That's what I always do.

We're heading to Minden in the morning...but we're taking the long way, through the Black hills.

I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of really cool teardrops, and meeting some really nice people!

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

I'm thinking about it. We still have a bunch of chores to do so we'll play it by ear. We're thinking about just a quick trip so that we won't have to take any days off.

Question for GrundgeDog, aka Kevin

Do you have any further information on the car show in Holdrege on Saturday?

As street rodders, we would be interested in attended and hopefully even caravanning up with other car enthusiests. We have found that you meet the nicest people at car events, almost as nice as Teardoppers.

We are missing our annual car show here in Minnesota to attend the ITG3, and are soo looking forward to it. The 34th annual "Back to the 50's" car show held here that same weekend already has over 11,000 cars pre-registered. It will be the first one we have missed in 25 years, but have found that teardropping is actually more fun.

Thanks in advanced, Dennis & Faye
