1432 Members. Where are they ?

Postby ALAN GEDDES » Tue Aug 16, 2005 4:06 pm

Out of the 1432 members of the forum 694 have never posted. 125 posted once and 92 twice. 521 of us have had more than three posts (just a bit more than a third of us). Is this normal for an online forum ?

Teardrops are definitely niche... you won't have the activity here that you have on say, a bicycle forum, or a car forum. But then again, who can keep up with all those posts?

Yes, it's typical that you get a lot of users signing up, and a lot of them not posting.

Don't feel too creeped out. If any of the other lurkers out there are like me, they haven't built or bought a teardrop yet and are just gathering information (or else just toying with the idea of making the plunge into the world of teardrops). I can't speak for the other lurkers out there, but since I haven't built this thing I've been obsessed with for years now, I don't feel like I have much to offer in the way of posts. I just keep collecting information and drawing and redrawing how I think I want to build my tear and hoping I get enough of my home improvement projects out of the way to get started on my dream. Plus I'm trying to get my wife used to the idea that I really do want to build this thing. She's not real thrilled with the idea. If I want to get on her nerves I get out the full size cardboard profile folded up in my closet and open it out against the wall in the bedroom. (She's worried I'll start on the tear before I finish our "list")

Tell her you changed your mind and want to build a custom chopper and join the local biker club, and it will only cost about $20,000 minimum for the putt. Then wait a few days and tell the teardrop would only be errr... $1500 or so. That might do it. But if you already have the scooter and are in the brotherhood, guess you wouldn't be havin these "issues" with the "old lady"

Steve

p.s. I rebuilt a shovelhead in the kitchen one winter years ago, the ex-wife hated every minute of it. Something about washin parts in the sink, I never got what the problem was.....

I may not have much of value to share, but that doesn't stop me from putting in my 2 ¢ worth. I did just "lurk" for a while until I thought of something to post. Now, some of you may wish I'd just shut up. Maybe some others are just shy about getting into the swing of things.

Paul, I know that feeling. My wife is not the avid camper that I am. The teardrop is definitely out (she doesn't want to "sleep in a box"). My design, being larger and roomier still leaves a lot to be desired in her opinion. She thinks that It is just suitable for weekend use going fishing or such. (Hmmm...she doesn't seem to realize that I can either tow my boat or tow a camper...can't do both) So, I'll just take it one step at a time. I'll build it and see if she comes around after trying it for a few weekends. If not...Who knows. Maybe someone else would like it and buy it.

Sometimes I pretend to be normal. But, that gets boring...so I go back to being me.
