Bit of excitement last night.

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Bit of excitement last night.

This is my next door neighbors place. My place is just off frame to the left.

Lightning sparked a fire on the forest land behind us. Started around 7:00 pm. Wind was coming straight at us. Spent a couple of hours on the tractor dragging the back yard to bare dirt. Kat hosed down the deck and where I couldn't get to with the tractor.

Fortunately the wind died down, and the fire turned away and ran uphill. Fire crews hit it hard also.

Made it to bed around 12:30, up again at 4:30. Looking pretty good, so came into work.

Now to fix the fence I snagged with the backhoe bucket, repair the drip line I ignored as I was dragging, and try to relevel the mess in the yard. No problem doing it, at least I have a yard to fix up.

Wow, that was close!

Maybe you and the neighbors can get together and make your yards and homes more fire resistant?

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

That is a great picture of the plane, with the fire in the background.

I'm glad you and yours are safe.

I heard that someone tried to out-run the flames of the Bully fire, here in California.
They just found the body but it can not be recognized because it is so badly burned.

It sure is. A neighbor took it. When that drop happened I was busy on the tractor, and didn't find time to look up. Sure heard it though. That plane at (full?) throttle that close was LOUD!

Fire's pretty much contained, and we had a bit of a rain this afternoon. A lot more lightning though, but nothing close to here.
