Here's a cool one I only noticed this morning: M-5 is French for 10-32. Really! A nut of one fits a bolt of the other. Wouldn't build a spacecraft that way, but it works in my shop.
Oh, and don't get them mixed. Almost impossible to see the difference without a micrometer, and not even with my Harbor Fright micrometer!
