I bought some 12v (cigarette lighter) outlets and one wire is black and the other is black with a white stripe.. Which one is the positive? Thanks!

If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.

It should have been one black wire and one red wire.

If you treat the black wire as ground,

and the white stripped wire as hot,

I think you'll find that's what they intended.

Mike is right since they are both black they will normaly add a stripe or dashes to indicate positive but I never trust them I always check them with my meter

Thanks for the help.. I just took one apart and the black wire with the white line goes to the middle so that's the positive.

Yep, that's what I was going to say. The one attached to the middle is positive and the one attached to the side is your ground reguardless of color. What is suppose to be is not always.

If in doubt, check it with a meter. In 12V the center is usually +.
