If I hook up a Pyramid PS-21KX power converter before my battery will it charge the battery when plugged in?
Also where is the best bet for finding 12v lighting fixtures?

I'd wait and plug it in after you connect the battery....

The obvious 12V light fixture choice is RV parts suppliers. Another group, with some really cool but usually expensive options, are marine supply places; these are the only source of ready-to-use cold-cathode fluorescents, for the ultimate in efficiency (and cost... I haven't gone that far yet).

Another interesting source is anyone selling halogen or LED lighting for commercial or residential use; many of those fixtures are actually 12VDC, and use a power supply box to provide the 12VDC from a 120VAC input. You just don't use the power supply, and ta-dah, you've bought a trailer part from IKEA!

...as far as I can tell, those units are not meant for charging a battery...they are a constant voltage/amperage power supply with no regulation for battery charging...if you hook your battery to them, the battery will eventually melt down/explode...

p.s.....one of these would be a MUCH Better choice.....MJ

...I have come to believe that, conflict resolution, through violence, is never acceptable.....................mj

Steven,
This is what I did for lights. I used low voltage lights, an under cabinet puck light in the galley and I used some goose-neck lights (both from Lowes) in the cabin, I just tossed the little converters, and hooked them up to my 12v. They work great if you look in the picture you can see one of the cabin lights top right corner.

You can find a lot of lights and LED's on e-bay.
