Shore power

Postby asianflava » Tue Nov 09, 2004 1:23 am

I went to West Marine to buy some epoxy stuff. As usual I look around the store to see, "what I might need in the future." I saw the shore power outlets and cords. I have never dealt with "hookups" at a campground so I am totally unfamillar with them.

What kind of plugs do they have at the campground?
Locking type? need extensioncord with locking plugs
regular house plug? need adapter with locking plug and house plug

Also when installing the socket is it installed on the street side?

I did see a cool fuse panel, it has + and - distribution on it

They have 15 amp, which is the standard household plug. they also have 30 amp, which is a twistlock and a 50 amp twistlock. I would not worry about the last two. Even with an A/C installed (5000 btu) most trailers are not going to pull more than 15 - 20 amps. Unless you really load up on the electrical side. I just would not cheap out on the shore power cord.
