12 volt receptacle questions...???

Postby kayakrguy » Fri Apr 13, 2007 4:16 pm

Hi folks,

I am getting ready to work on the T again and finish stuff we didn't get done before our Fl trip.

I want to install a couple of 12 volt receptacles--1 in cabin, 1 in galley (or maybe on outside wall....

When I looked at some, to my surprise, instead of wire connectors, they have two spade like (plugs) in the back? What the heck are those for? Like I said, I thought there would be wires that would splice to wires from my fuse panel....

Help with fog appreciated,

Thanks,

Jim

Use these Female Push-On terminals or

Female Flag quick connect terminals.

Mary, Dale,

Thank you for the reply. I have spade connectors etc. I wish I could post a picture of these receptacles (couldn't shop lift one ;) The 'spades' I am talking about on the back are NOT the small connector spades that would fit into the connectors Mary shows. They really are similar to a regular ac plug....????? that is why I am confused...

Jim, they probably take the male spade connector not the female receptacle.
This is starting to sound like a sex education lesson

Cheers

Got a brand name and model (part) number?

The connector sets (male/female) come in 3-4 different sized up to 5/16 ( or maybe 3/8) inch ...

http://www.waytekwire.com/Dimensions/Push_on.htm

FYI: The flat blade type connector is a "pushon". A "spade" connector is a two prong connector that straddles a screw or stud. A "ring" connector has a hole in it that drops over a stud or has a screw put though the hole...
