There might still be a way to save yourself... Paint Simba's legs. One red, one black, one white, and maybe one green or brown.

Then turn him into a pretzel and talk a picture.

Then for good measure, use photoshop and paste in a power supply and a couple lights...

We'll let you off on the hijacking charge at that point... :drofl:  :tipsy:

Powder-

I thought Raul was talking speaker wire for speaker wires!

I agree, using speaker wire as DC isn't a good idea!

He wasn't real specific about things!

Where the heck is Raul anyway, he hasn't been back since he posted this thing!

AND I hear you about liabilities, I used to build playgrounds (notice I said used to)!

Cheers,

Coop

Hi all

I’m here, learning a lot and on time to not make the mistake of wiring my TD with speaker wires.

I don’t know where, but I’m sure I read no one, but some post about TD being wired with speaker wires.

Thank you very much with all your kind advice.

I also appreciate the discussion about 12 volts outlets, as I had not put any attention about the proper installation of them.

Raul

not to confuse things but.... In the RV industry ie trailers and motor coaches the standards are white is ground and black or red is the + side for 12v. I've had "auto" techs burn many a wire before they understood it ain't the same as a car (black ground)

12v sockets

Postby BrwBier » Thu Nov 10, 2005 8:28 am

Just a note, not all 12v sockets are cigarette lighter sockets. Some will not accept a lighter element. So, unless you need a lighter get the accessory socket, they are much better.

Unfortunately, there aren't any codes or adopted standards that specify wiring color that I've ever been able to find. Typically, 12V dc has the hot wire red and the ground black. 120V wiring has the hot wire black, the neutral wire white and the ground green. I'd make sure to follow 120V convention in case someone else works on your 120V electrical system. Otherwise, just make sure you label everything and you'll be fine. I have speaker wire all over my trailer and I'm not worried about it a bit. If anything goes wrong I know the builder. ;)
