LED tail light problem (revisited..... not fixed after all)

Have you checked to see if the trailer wires are crossed. To check unplug from tow vehical disconnect the lights ( remove bulbs or LED's). Using an ohm meter you should see no continuity between wires. As example ground to Right turn, right turn to left turn, Left turn to Stop, right turn to stop, stop to tail, etc.

Yes, I thought of that early on into the addition of the lights and checked to make sure I didn't goof up.

Have you checked the voltage at the light? This sure is a quandry.

I'm still thinking a bad ground somewhere.

ScotchLocs, if you are referring to those little round connectors with goo in them are made for SOLID wire IDC connections . They are NOT made for stranded wire......

They are referring to a 3M product that relies on little metal forks to penetrate the wire insulation and make a compression connection with the conductor between the forks.
