Intellipower 4045 versions

Postby bushido41 » Fri Nov 23, 2018 1:06 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have an older intellipower PD4045 , that has no way to connect a DC disconnect switch. Looks like the new ones have a way to add a disconnect switch. What Im planning to do is to splice a longer piece of number 8 or10 wire to the DC disconnect switch, and the other side of the switch to the fuse switch area of the intelli power. I was wondering if anyone has done that previously, and any words of caution.

This is my new trailer that I have been working on for a few months. Is a Weeroll Silver Cloud Xtreme.

I will be creating a thread of my build soon.

Thank you for the comments.

Why do you not want to just put the switch in series with the + wire from the battery to the Converter?

Hello Guitar,

The main reason, is that I want to measure the load of all my 12 v devices at all times, and also be able to disable the 12 volt flow to my device. If I connect the switch to the battery, I can only measure the load or disconnect if IM using the battery , since the 4045 is converting 125 to 12 volts, and providing the voltage to the fuse panel within the 4045.

The 12V disconnect on the 4045 completely disables the 12V circuits, including the converter. It's not just a battery disconnect.

Guitar,

Indeed, that is exactly what I want to do.

Completed the wiring of the light switches, and AC, and DC meters, plus the DC Disconnect switch.
