Question about battry charge levels

Anything electric, AC or DC

Postby cracker39 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:49 am

George,

Yes, seeing is believing (sometimes). I can see why using a meter to monitor battery usage while camping is not very practical. However, my testing has provided me with usage results. I used about 43 amp hours before the battery reached 50% capacity. I made the Excel chart below that shows approximately how many amp hours use I'd get out of each 12V electrical item in the trailer.

With that, I can estimate my amp/hour usage while camping. For example, if during a two day/night trip, I use my dual light bulb fixture for 3 hours each evening, and my single buld fixture over the galley for 1 hour each evening, I can use my fan on low for about 12 hours total, or on medium for about 10 hour total.

OK, So why am I going to this level of detail? I'm a technogeek with too much time on my hands...

No, I won't have a computer with me camping to run usage charts. Yes, I'm likely to have a calculator to figure usage. Will I do anything else while camping other than worry about battery usage? Who knows?
 :? 8)

Sorry about the long post Jack...Forgot to use shorthand...

Wow Dale
Charting huh.
Actually it's great. I will keep in mind that I can use only one light and be fine for days. Think I'll run two batteries.

Gratefully (I hate figuring all that out.)
