It is the easy way of going. I think thats what I'll do. One question. It won't overcharge/cook the battery, right? Your starting battery always has voltage from your alt and it if fine.

It depends. I wouldn't drive around with it charging all the time. But, if you're just charging your battery on camping trips and then you use a battery charger to maintain the battery at home you should be fine. At least mine has been and the truck runs 14.3 volts with a 120A alternator. I haven't had any problems with overcharging the battery. Also, I try and check and add water as required to the battery ever month. One thing to check is the output of the alternator on your TV. If its only a 40A or so you might burn it out charging a battery. The alternator in most cars is sized only for the car (and barely that).

I ran my #10 from a constant use solenoid today. Instillation went well. I put a fuse in line.

On my trip back from thr Colorado Campout this weekend my solenoid seems to have recharged the TD battery. All is good. Before the trip I did add a switch to shut off the power to activate the solenoid. This way I don't charge an already charged battery and I also don't have to listen to it close when I'm not charging.

PS I used the "State of Charge Chart"

Chris,

So your battery wasn't at 60% from charging from your vehicle? Must be a magic battery.

The voltage that I read on my TD battery when I got home was 12.8V. After a few minutes it settled down to 12.6V. It seems to work.
