I've seen people add heat exchanger coils to the heater loop on the TV. Then use a 12v pump to push fresh water through the other side of the heat exchanger. It requires warming up the TV and letting it idle, but it works.

Two hula hoops, cheapo plastic shower curtain rings and a pair of shower curtains. You can hang the whole rig from whatever hook you use for the solar shower.

We used this hunting in Texas quite a bit. Worked great.

Nevadatear...do you have any plans for the shower you built? I want to make one..sounds easy, just want to make sure I get the right tubes and the right nozzle for the metal sprayer...I've never thought about using a sprayer in that way so I've never looked at how easy the hoses come off for heating on a fire or stove...and how hot the fittings will be when the hoses go back on (obviously the water won't be boiling..I like hot showers, but not THAT hot!!!)

I have solar showers...it's over 90 degrees in Sacto now and it's time to try out the solar showers. But they won't work if I'm camped in the shade or have rain like we had at the Dam for the first day!!

Basically what I did is steal the design from this: Image

I found the cheapest metal sprayer on the internet I could (I think it was about $40). Took off the sprayer attachment, found the right size tubing (clear plastic is what I used) that would fit over the nipple on the tank, clamped it with a simple small hose clamp (the kind that tightens down with screwdriver) Image then attached a nozzle to the other end with another hoze clamp. You can get solar shower type sprays at REI for a couple of dollars.Image

Fill partially or fully with water. Set in the sun for a while (I painted mine black this year, haven't tried it out yet), then put on your stove if you want hotter (I do!) don't forget to take out the plastic pump up part before heating. heat to desired temperature, pump up, turn on the shower and you have hot water. I have an old hot tub thermometer that i use to monitor the temperature when I heat it. I think I have a picture somewhere, I will try to find or take another. I don't take of the hose when I heat it, just make sure it is coiled up out of the way on top when heating. but do take of the pump up part.

for shower curtain i bought 2 shower curtains and made a frame out of 3/4 pvc. i glued the elbows and tees only where it needed to be. then i sanded the pvc where it mated with the fittings. put it all in a old folding chair bag. totally portable takes few minutes to set up and stake. i use a five gallon bucket with a battery operated shower. zion - i think the brand name is.

That is the best idea I have seen yet. Thank you for posting it.

One of the problems not discussed is that from what I have heard you can be ticketed for your shower/gray water. We do use camp suds when camping but...

A very good point and one to seriously consider.

I stand in a dishpan to shower, use the camp suds, and dispose of appropriately. It can be funneled into a grey water container pretty easily.

Here is the only camp soap to be EPA registered biodegradable.

Yes it is biodegradable but will you get ticketed. Pahaque makes a shower floor that can be drained but the weight could be a real problem.

Some of the incredibly stupid things I have seen folks do in campgrounds...
Many of our parks are being loved to death and things like detergents contribute.
