Walmarts 8" Queen sized mattress................

Anything to do with camping, fundamentals, secrets, etc...

Postby stumphugger » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:20 pm

I bought one for a guest bed in the house--the 6 inch one or is it the 8 inch one? It feels comfy but firmer than my temperpedic. I have the Walmart bed on some cheap springs and the Temperpedic is on a box spring. I have no teardrop, yet.
But the research is in progress.

Is this the 6" one that you guys are talking about? I'm thinking about using it. I'd like some testimonials on it if you got them. Doug

You'll want to air it out before you use it. It will have a strong smell at first.

If it is the one that comes sqooshed up in a box, you are also supposed to give it 48 hours to fluff up.

Different question

Postby Dragonryder » Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:47 am

Sorry to change the subject a little here. I was just wondering for those that leave their teardrop outside during the winter. Do you leave your mattress stored in the tear and if so, do you or have you ever had any mice problems???
Have a great day and hoping the weather is great no matter where you are!!!

Rodents of all kinds hate moth balls ! Toss in a hand full for winter storage and sprinkle a few under the trailer as well

Good thinking.

That's a good idea. I have heard that it will even repel unwanted outdoor cats. Thanks, I'll have to do that. What do you do for the smell? Just open it up and let it air out?

Air it out

and if any smell lingers just think how much more enjoyable it is than stale mouse pee. OMG :?

We saw these at WalMart over the weekend. 4" Memory Foam: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spa-Sensation ... er/4569413
Wondering if anyone has anything similar in their teardrop and how comfortable it might be?

Is this a mattress or a memory foam topper. We are looking at the 8" Memory Foam topper but also want to be able to get it into the trailer without a lot of hassle.

b.bodemer wrote:I know there are a lot of ways a td sleeping area can be finished when it comes to picking out a mattress. My concern was a great nights sleep.

This was a little pricey, $229, but it is a 8" Queen sized mattress from Walmart. It is a full 60" x 80". The bottom 5" are high density foam and the top 3" are memory foam. It has a nice off white cover.

I can get it in and out through the doors by rolling it up and using some of my kayak straps to make it smaller. It should store well indoors through the winter and will be perfect for those times the family visits and I need an extra bed!

Yes..........that is a mattress(not a topper).

If you take the cover off and strip right to the foam you will have two layers. The top layer is the memory foam, the bottom is the high density.

Easy to use as is or can be trimmed to fit with no problems.

I liked my 8" mattress for the td so much I purchased a 6" one for my cargo travel trailer, still from Walmart and delciverd to my house for free. Still getting a great night sleep on 2" less.

We've got the 8" in our little guy six wide. I built a platform bed in the house purposely for getting one for the house when ours bites the dust. When camping I fall asleep with my hands folded over my mid section and wake up hours later not having moved at all. At first you think it's hard then you're asleep. It contours so well to your body there are no uncomfortable spots.
Conform and be dull.

Sounds divine! Will have remember to get one for the trailer when it's finished.
