Good camping in the Central Florida area?

Postby kitcarguy » Sun Jan 14, 2007 4:10 pm

Hey everyone.

I am looking for someplace to go camping with my girlfriend and her 10 year old daughter. I dont have a TTT yet so its tent living at its finest...lol. I remember as a kid (only 32 now) camping at places like Blue Springs and Silver Glen Springs, but does anyone have any suggestions for a nice place to go?

Im thinking of doing something in the next few weeks.

Thanks for your help.

PS- It looks like sometime in March will be my start date on The Squidget :D

Don't know if this is where you want to be, but we enjoyed this state park just outside of Orlando... went swimming in the spring in the park in Feb..

Careful where you go in the Ocala National forest. There are some meth labs there and a lot of vagrants.
The TWO rangers that cover all of the forest (400,000 acres) are now equipped with M-16's.

According to the local news there are more park personnel planned for the future and that the current law enforcement are cleaning up this problem. But it's always wise to be careful where you go.

Also a previous post stated that there was all night teenage beer parties at Alexander Springs (federal) and many family campers were leaving in the middle of the night.

Any of the STATE parks would be a very good choice. They are all clean and well mantained. Cant go wrong there.

heres a link about the forest.........

Well my favorite in Central Florida is Ft. Wilderness at Disney World. A bit pricey and hard to get reservations, but I love it. Just spent two weeks tent camping there in December. If you call far enough in advance, you can usually get a AAA discount.

I've got another two weeks reserved for October. I'm hoping the finances will straighten out like I want them and I'll have my TearDrop by then. Looking at the Yoter Toter White Shadow 5x10.
