Where do the fruit and veggies go?

Postby lonebird » Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:35 pm

I love fresh fruit and veggies, but I find when I go camping I just don't know where to put them. Might get smushed in the cooler, might rot anywhere else. I have a five day cooler and a 2 day cooler I was thinking maybe pack the fresh produce in the smaller one? Any suggestions?
The things that one most wants to do are the things that are probably most worth doing.

When we pack the cooler, we leave enough space on top to put a towel & then lay the fruit & vegies on top. I found it also helps keep the cooler ice last longer. I always take a 2nd cooler for drinks. That way you are not opening the main cooler all the time.

Don't eat the fruit!

But put the veggies on top, like Rainjer said! :o

Packed in a paper-towel-lined plastic pan, on top of everything else in the Igloo Extreme Cooler.

I don't like cold fruit... I put it in the picnic basket!!! But the veggies go on top a towel in the top of the cooler!

My cooler came with a tray that sits on top, out of the ice. We usually keep them there.
