Avon does not market the original Skin-So-Soft oil as a mosquito repellent, but the company has come out with a formula containing IR3535, a new EPA-approved mosquito repellent.

IR3535 belongs to drug maker Merck, and it has been used as a mosquito repellent in Europe for 20 years. Avon's products are the only ones with IR3535 available in the U.S.

These are all great ideas that I have never thought of, so thanks! I've heard there is a medication specifically for keeping the little buggers off. Is this true? Do I need a prescription?

You are probably thinking of DEET. It is available in plenty of over the counter mosquito repellants. It works quite well.

However, it bothers some people. It makes my skin burn, as if I already had a sunburn. So I try not to use it. If you haven't tried it, go ahead and try it once. If it doesn't bother your skin, it will work great to keep the mosquitos away!

They wouldn't live long enough to make the trip, and over that radius or even in a straight line, there would be millions of other distractions.
I think that is another of those 'facts' that cannot be proven or disputed.

They cannot fly in much of a wind, if there is power and no wind, a good fan will keep them away better than any chemical. I have watched them zero in on the scent head straight toward it, then when they get within a certain distance of the fan make an abrupt involuntary 90 degree turn. Even if they come flying in with a tail wind they cannot stop and bite.....

I HAVE USED BLEACH FOR YEARS. I PUT A SMALL AMOUNT A INCH OR SO IN A MASON JAR. OPEN THE JAR WHEN YOUR OUTSIDE OND CLOSE IT UP TO STORE. NO NEED TO MPUT ANYTHING ON YOU BODY. AND HAVE YOU EVER SEEN VERY MANY BITTING BUG ATTHE POOL?

Bleach...I've never heard of that one. But I've heard that if ya eat GARLICK the bugs don't like you.
