Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I know these are trailers and or TTT's, but many of these take up as much or less than many tents. Also there are more than a few that don't require electric or water services.

Do you folks reserve tent sites or rv sites and have any of you encountered issues with campgrounds not allowing your td's in a tent site?

Sometimes the tent pad is in the middle of the site. They will probably get bent out of shape if you unhook and put the tear in the middle. Some of those sites only have a pad big enough for the tow vehicle, too short for the tow vehicle and trailer.

I usually ask for an RV site.

I'll go for tent sites so long as my rigs can fit in them.

First of all, I try to stay away from RVs (their generator noise). Further, it seems the tent sites often have the best scenic location.

Lastly, I'd rather look at tents than gigantic rolling billboards of garish graphics or a 30-foot wall of fiberglass/aluminum.

Nothing against those who have those RVs, I just don't want to look at them when in nature.

I have found that in Florida the private campgrounds tend to want you to put a teardrop in a tent site that is next to the RV sites so you can have electricity but not take up a big drive through space. The State parks for the most part all the sites are pretty generic with back in spaces of varying lengths for either tents or RV's. I agree with the above that the most scenic views are usually tent sites here too, usually because they are in areas that are prone to flooding and have no utilities available. It seems to vary with the campground. I know KOA wants you in the RV spots but their site will let you reserve a tent site tho it's not supposed to. Whether or not they let you camp in the site after you get there is up to the manager it seems.

If I stop for the night while traveling and don't need airconditioning, I try to get a tent site because it's cheaper, but if it's a camp site for the weekend, I get a water and electric site. Having said that, most RV parks don't have tent sites.

allways use a tent site and in 30 plus years of camping Ihavn't ever found the need for water or electrical hook-ups.

In spite of the compact size, most private CG insist that you park a TD in the RV section.
They claim the tent people prefer only tenters?

I'm thinking the CG owners prefer Mo Muny?
Been on both sides, tent/TD I don't know?
I get a lot of tenter's spying that king sized bed!
Then there's our rapid departure!

When in doubt I try to call ahead to the campground to see how they suggest registering, especially if it's an on-line reservation.

I have used both tent and rv sites. Biggest prob is explaining what the tear is over the phone. Some campgrounds have had "pop-up sites. These seem to offer the best comprimise. the are more scenic yet offer water and elect.

thanks for the input.... I'll try for tent sites unless someone says no... I dont plan to need elec or water with mine when I get it finished. (still workingon the trailer)

My teardrop is SMALLER than my old tent. A lot quicker to set up too.

I usually camp at state parks. They only differentiate between electric and non-electric sites, although there are also a few "hike back to" sites.

Anywhere else, I simply explain that I have a TINY trailer and they usually seem to be pretty flexible.

Location, location, location...It's all about location, for me. The view, the
privacy, the people next door, are all more important, to me. The rangers,
in CA. at the beaches, usually try to fit me in a tent spot, but I'll pay more,
for a good spot.

I try to make them understand that it's smaller than the average cabin tent but it doesn't seem to matter. It's all in the $$$.

I almost always use a tent site. They are usually somewhat cheaper and the scenary is better. Also, I hate the noise of a generator or big RV air conditioners when I'm trying to sleep. If I'm just passing through and I don't need a shower I usually use a rest stop or Wally World.

Most State & National Parks have tent sites that are plenty big enough for my TTT & tow vehicle.
